Information Technology is a busy department within the Town of Parker. Our wonderful staff members who work in this area handle all IT operations for our organization, as well as the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping.
In his role as Network Administrator, Steve Zajac has a variety of duties. He helps maintain our computer and network infrastructure, serves as a manager for the Town’s fantastic group of System Support Specialists and also helps manage several new and/or ongoing IT projects.

How long have you worked for the Town of Parker? Where did you work before Parker?
"I have worked for Parker for 11 years. Prior to working for Parker, I worked for Northrop Grumman at Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado Springs on the GPS Master Control Station and multiple other Department of Defense contractors on the ECTTR complex in Eastern North Carolina after serving in the Marine Corps."
Please give a brief overview of what your job entails and how it impacts the Parker community.
"Working in the Information Technology Department, I have several responsibilities. As the Network Administrator, I maintain the network infrastructure that provides interconnectivity for the Town facilities to operate and strive for minimal downtimes.
"As the IT Project Manager. I coordinate and provide guidance on the Information Technology project scope with the Town of Parker’s Project Manager on capital building projects, such as the Rec Center Remodel, Public Works Operations Center building, Discovery Park, Schoolhouse Renovation, Fieldhouse Renovation and Schoolhouse Annex Remodel.
"As a Support Specialist Manager, I supervise, train and mentor several of the System Support Specialists and strive to provide the best customer service possible to Town staff."
What do you most enjoy about working for the Town of Parker?
"Being able to walk to work every day. This is a change of pace from my previous careers, where I use to drive anywhere from 45 minutes up to two hours one way to get to work."
What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
"I spent the majority of my childhood growing up outside of the United States."
What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
"Unplugging and doing anything that is not IT related, such as cycling, hiking, building stuff, gardening or just playing with our dogs."
What is the most interesting place you’ve ever visited?
"The Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, Israel and the Bazaar marketplace in Izmir, Turkey."
What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
"Oxygen, water, food, faith and family. Everything else is negotiable."
If you could do another job for the Town of Parker for just one day, what would it be?
"I would like to drive one of the large snow plows during a big winter storm."
What’s one thing about working for the Town of Parker that you didn’t expect?
"I did not expect to see how rapidly the Town of Parker has grown in the last 10 years."
What accomplishment are you most proud of since you started working for the Town of Parker?
"Developing an interactive case filing form for the Parker Police Department, which has been shared with and adopted by the 18th Judicial District and several other police and fire departments along the Front Range."
What is the strangest thing that you have experienced while working for the Town of Parker?
"Reviewing the aftermath of a lighting strike and restoring network connectivity at the Old Town Hall facility."
