To report flooding or illegal dumping into the stormwater system call the stormwater hotline at 303.805.6262.
The Stormwater Utility ensures that stormwater systems are properly planned, constructed and maintained within the Town of Parker. The Utility provides overall stormwater management to prevent flooding, protect water quality and to preserve the natural creeks and gulches throughout the Town of Parker.
Stormwater is water from precipitation that flows across the ground and pavement when it rains or when snow and ice melt. The water seeps into the ground or drains into what we call storm sewers. These are the drains you see at street corners or at low points on the sides of your streets. Collectively, the draining water is called stormwater runoff.
Stormwater runoff can have a number of impacts. As development and impervious surfaces increase in an area, the natural capacity of the soil and vegetation to infiltrate and absorb rainfall decreases, and more rainfall becomes stormwater runoff. This can produce negative impacts by causing erosion of land areas and stream banks, by causing or increasing flooding and also by carrying pollutants to surface waters. When more houses, roads and businesses are constructed, increased runoff can cause serious drainage and pollution problems.
