From A to Z, here’s our guide to making the most of your summer in the Town of Parker.
A is for Art Encounters: A new series of sculptures for Douglas County Art Encounters, a rotating art exhibition through downtown Parker, will be installed between May and June.
B is for Bike to Work Day: Ditch the car and bike to work on Wednesday, June 26. On your way, stop by the Town of Parker’s Bike to Work Day breakfast station along the Cherry Creek Trail, just south of the E-470 overpass. And new this year, we’ll be serving pancakes!
C is for Camps: Explore the outer reaches of space, try a new sport and make new friends at one of Parker Parks and Recreation’s or Parker Arts’ summer camps.
D is for Discovery Park Summer Concert Series: Spend your Thursday evenings May 30 to Aug. 1 enjoying the sounds of summer, food trucks and beautiful weather during these free concerts.
E is for Engage: Engage and interact with Town staff and leaders at special Let’s Talk Parker booths planned for the Parker Farmer’s Market this summer. Stay tuned to the Town’s communication channels for details.
F is for Festivals: Mark your calendars for Parker Days, the Honey Festival, Parker Brewfest and Art in the Park.
G is for Garage Sales: Make sure to follow the few conditions related to where and when garage sale signs may be displayed.
H is for H2O’Brien Pool: Parker’s seasonal outdoor pool features two 182' water slides, a waterworks play structure, a spray garden, sprays and geysers, a circulation and lap pool, a concession area and a shade pavilion. (P.S. don't forget about the Discovery Park Play Fountain for more summertime splashing!)
I is for Indoor Recreation: Because sometimes you need to beat the heat, head inside to see a show, check out an art gallery, swim in the indoor pool, and workout or try a new sport.
J is for July 4: Spend Independence Day at the Parker Stars and Stripes Celebration. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and set up for an evening jam packed with family fun at Salisbury Park complete with a concert, games and activities and one of the best fireworks displays around!
K is for Kids’ TRY-athlon: This event is about fun over competition. Boys and girls show their skills in three events: swimming, biking and running. Come on, kids, TRY it out on July 20!
L is for Lifeguards: The perfect summer job, Parker Parks and Recreation is always looking for lifeguards for H2O’Brien Pool and the Parker Recreation Center’s indoor pool.
M is for Movies in the Park: Hosted by the Parker Area Chamber of Commerce, head to O’Brien Park to see Ralph Breaks the Internet in June, The Incredibles 2 in July and Rudy in August.
N is for National Night Out: As part of efforts to strengthen police-community partnerships, Parker Police Department staff members make appearances at registered National Night Out events each year.
O is for Outdoor Recreation: Enjoy Colorado’s renowned beautiful weather at any of Parker’s public parks or 30-plus miles of trails.
P is for Park & Recreation Month: July is National Park and Recreation Month and Parker Parks and Recreation will be celebrating with special programs and events all month long!
Q is for Quest: Explore downtown Parker while learning about the Town’s history with ParkerQuest by the Parker Area Historical Society.
R is for Run Series: Two of Parker Parks and Recreation’s Run Series events take place over the summer including the Cattle Crossing 5K & Family Fun Trek on June 1 and the So Long to Summer 5K/10K & Family Fun Trek Aug. 10.
S is for Sports: Summer is prime sports season and there’s an adult or youth league for every age and interest.
T is for Tails: Tails will be wagging as dogs take the last swims of the year in H2O’Brien Pool during Barker Days Sept. 7.
U is for Under Construction: With warmer weather comes peak construction and maintenance season. See what projects are happening around Parker with the Capital Improvement Projects Update and the interactive Streets Maintenance Map.
V is for Vegetables: There’ll be plenty of vegetables, as well as fruits, baked goods and homemade items for sale at the Parker Farmer’s Market, which lines Mainstreet every Sunday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
W is for Walks: Spend an evening out with the Parker Area Chamber of Commerce for one of its Wine Walks or First Friday Art Walks.
X is for Xylophones: Get in the rhythm with one of the xylophones at Harmony Park next to the PACE Center. Maybe on Make Music Day, June 21?
Y is Yoga in the Park: Come enjoy the last days of summer with the new Sunset Yoga in the Park class this August in Discovery Park.
Z is for Zone: Parker Parks and Recreation's Kids’ Zone offers a variety of classes and events designed to enrich your child’s life and grow a healthy self-esteem. Whether it is classes to encourage motor development, creative expression or social skills, Kids’ Zone offer a non-competitive, nurturing environment all summer and all year long.
