We officially welcome summer this month and there’s no shortage of community events to make the most of the new season. So please check out our list of five things to know for June and get ready to spend some quality time outside with your family and friends — and make some new ones — at the following events.

Cattle Crossing 5K & Family Fun Trek June 2:
Giddy up! Grab your cowboy hat and stick horse because this event is going to make ya'll shout “yeehaw” as we celebrate the beginning of summer and Parker's rich rural history!

Part of Parker Parks and Recreation’s Run Series, the Cattle Crossing 5K & Family Fun Trek takes place at Tallman Meadow Park Saturday, June 2. The 5K is a professionally-timed event and the Family Fun Trek is about one mile of laid-back, outdoorsy fun. All participants will receive commemorative cowboy boot-designed socks, a delicious post-race pancake breakfast and a chance to win prizes. The free Kids' Dash follows the race for children 8 and under; no registration necessary.

Parker Days June 7 to 10:
A tradition that dates back more than four decades, the Parker Days Festival takes place in downtown Parker June 7 through 10. Organized by the Parker Area Chamber of Commerce, Parker Days includes shows, carnival rides, a parade, all the food you can eat and three concert stages with live music. The festival will close several roads in downtown so review the festival’s road closure map before making your trip.

Discovery Park Summer Concert Series kicks off:
Join Parker Arts in the summer sun Thursdays in June and July for the second year of the Discovery Park Summer Concert Series. Held at the Discovery Park amphitheater, the concerts begin at 6 p.m. each Thursday, starting with a performance from Last Men on Earth on June 14.

Feel free to bring your picnic baskets, lawn chairs and beach blankets to enjoy the open green space and soak in the sounds of summer. This space is open to patrons of all ages. Food trucks will be on-site during the concerts. Due to its open-space design, no alcoholic beverages are allowed.

Bike to Work Day June 27:
Ditch your car and grab your bike for Bike to Work Day on Wednesday, June 27. The Town of Parker and Rocky Vista University invite you to join the Way to Go team, a program of Denver Regional Council of Governments, and 25,000 commuters to participate in this great event, which promotes awareness of the benefits of biking.

Fuel up at the Town of Parker Breakfast Station, located at the Cherry Creek Trail under the E-470 overpass from 6 to 9 a.m. Rocky Vista University is once again joining the Town as a presenting sponsor of the station and Kneaders Bakery & Cafe will be providing breakfast and coffee for our riders. In addition to a delicious breakfast, there will be bananas and nutrition bars compliments of Natural Grocers and some fun giveaways. The first 250 riders to stop at Parker's Breakfast Station will also receive a custom Town of Parker Bike to Work Day t-shirt.

Monthly public meetings:
Parker Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Mondays, June 4 and 18 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 20120 E. Mainstreet. The Council will hold study sessions at 5:30 p.m. Mondays May 11 and 25 in the Pikes Peak Community Room at Town Hall.

The Parker Planning Commission will hold meetings at 7 p.m. Thursdays, June 14 and 28 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.

The Parker Special Licensing Authority will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 21 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.
