The Town of Parker is looking for motivated individuals to become members of the Parker Cultural and Scientific Commission as well as the Art in Public Places Committee (AIPP).
Cultural and Scientific Commissioners work with Town staff to recommend a vision and master plan to the Town Council for cultural and scientific activities for the community. They also review the Town’s grant application to the Scientific and Cultural Facilities district and make recommendations on items referred by the Town Council. The group meets quarterly.
The AIPP committee works in partnership with staff and Town Council to identify suitable public art for Town facilities, facilitate the preservation of public art that may be displayed in public places and recommend a method for the selection, acquisition and display of art in public places. This committee meets quarterly, unless monthly meetings are required to consider specific projects. Experience with visual arts is preferred for this committee.
Members of either group do not need to reside in the Town of Parker. If you have an interest in the cultural arts and/or public art and would like to serve the community in this capacity, please send a letter of interest to the Parker Cultural Commission Attn: Kelly Kuper, 20120 E. Mainstreet, Parker, CO 80138.
For more information, please contact Kelly at 303.434.1560 or kkuper@parkeronline.org. The deadline for applications is Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 at 5 p.m.
