[ARCHIVED] Living with Deer in Parker

deer.jpg

We’ve heard from residents who have noticed a growing number of deer in the Parker community. Drought conditions over the past several years have contributed to increased deer populations in neighborhoods where there is supplemental food available. This can include both intentional feeding of deer and irrigated landscapes associated with development.

To keep our community residents and wildlife safe, we’d like to provide the following tips for living safely with deer:

• Don’t feed deer! Work with your HOA to educate your neighbors about the consequences of feeding deer.

• Use approved fencing, chemical deterrents and other devices to limit the access deer have to your landscaping.

• Be aware and careful when driving in areas known to have deer populations. Follow the speed limit and scan the road carefully – assume that where there is one deer, there are more!

For more information on deer-proofing your landscaping and tips on living with wildlife, please visit the Division of Wildlife website at www.wildlife.state.co.us.
