Parker was recently ranked among the safest places in Colorado by the real estate research website Movoto.com. The Town was listed as the fourth-safest community in the state among those with 10,000 or more residents.
The list was created by using the latest Uniform Crime Report from the FBI (2012) to find crime data for these places, omitting any that did not report data to the bureau.
The following is the site's description of Parker and its high ranking:
"Located in Douglas County, this town of just over 47,000 residents ranked well in our analysis for its low overall number of crimes—just 1,080 per 100,000 in 2012... Of those crimes, Parker had a particularly low number of property crimes, with 955 per 100,000, and of those, a very low number of thefts, with 691 per 100,000. To put that into perspective for you, most places in our analysis had at least more than 1,000 thefts per 100,000 in 2012..."
