The Town of Parker's Community Development Department has won an award from the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) for its recently completed Transportation Master Plan. The plan was selected as the Silver Winner in the 2015 Local Government Awards Program category of Action.
With the assistance of a transportation planning consultant, the Town completed its yearlong Transportation Master Plan project in 2014 thanks to a coordinated effort between several departments. It serves as Parker’s long-range plan for travel and mobility providing Town Council and staff guidance regarding future transportation decisions, development and capital projects.
The plan also supports Town Council in achieving its goals and objectives for Parker to be a destination community where people come to live, work, shop and play. It will ensure the Town has a comprehensive and integrated transportation system that continues to serve the multi-modal (bicyclists, pedestrians, transit and autos) needs of residents and visitors for years to come.
The Transportation Master Plan is one of two major comprehensive planning projects the Town worked on in 2014. A Mainsteet Master Plan aimed at providing long-term guidance for Parker’s Mainstreet corridor was launched last summer and is currently in development.
