A new paint recycling program in Colorado began July 1 that will make it more convenient for households and most businesses to recycle unwanted paint.
There are more than 100 drop-off sites accepting most house paints, primers, stains, sealers and clear top coatings (varnish and shellac) that adhere to the programs requirements. Currently, the three locations in Parker offering paint drop-off are Guirys, KWAL and Sherwin Williams. A complete list of drop-off sites across Colorado and requirements can be found on the PaintCare website at www.PaintCare.org.
This program is funded by a nominal fee now added to the price of paint sold in Colorado, so there is no cost for drop-offs. It provides another option for Parker residents to dispose of paint and other eligible products, rather than waiting for the annual household chemical roundup. As a reminder, the discharge of paint or any other substance into the stormwater system is an illicit discharge that violates Town Code, as well as State and Federal law. To report illegal dumping, please call the Town of Parker’s Stormwater Hotline at 303.805.6262.
