[ARCHIVED] View the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Final Draft

Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan

The Town of Parker’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department has recently completed a Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan.

Consultants from the Eppley Institute, an arm of the University of Indiana, performed a thorough analysis of Parker Parks and Recreation and provided recommendations regarding our future direction. Analysis included gathering data on the current state of the department; on-site visits to all parks, facilities and trailheads; interviews with staff and stakeholders; two community open houses, as well as a comprehensive community survey.

Community input is a vital component to the Master Plan process, and citizen input is one of the most important considerations in making decisions to move the department forward. A scientific survey was sent to a random cross-section of Parker residents in October of 2017. Citizens also had the opportunity to offer feedback and information in the form of an online convenience survey.

The Parker Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department has been named a finalist for the National Recreation and Park Association’s (NRPA) Gold Medal Award as the top agency for its population five times, and the department earned the top honor in both 2000 and 2011. We hope that you can help us continue to enhance the quality of life of Parker’s residents by providing dynamic, industry-leading programs, facilities, parks and services.
