[ARCHIVED] Meet Our Staff: Jameson Hamsmith

Jameson Hamsmith - Meet Our Staff

Jameson Hamsmith - Meet Our Staff
Parker Arts helps provide access to arts, culture, history and science programs right here in our community. If you’ve ever attended a performance or taken a class at the PACE Center or The Schoolhouse, you’ve benefited from Parker Arts’ work in our Town.

Jameson Hamsmith, Graphic Design and Marketing Assistant for Parker Arts, helps publicize the many great cultural programs that our community offers to residents. Take a few minutes to learn more about who Jameson is and what he does for the Town of Parker.

How long have you worked for the Town of Parker? Where did you work before Parker?
“I have worked for the Town of Parker for 10 years in various positions. I started out at the Fieldhouse as a Birthday Party Host, then I became a Climbing Wall Attendant. Shortly after the PACE Center was built, I became a Box Office Representative and eventually got my shot on the Marketing Team, and I’ve been here ever since. While I have never worked anywhere BEFORE the Town, during my employment here I worked for Best Buy as a sales associate and as a graphic designer for Search Parker Magazine.”

Tell us about your job and how it impacts the Parker community.
“I like to say that ‘I write pretty words and I make pretty pictures’ for Parker Arts. I write a lot of the copy you see on Parker Arts’ website, brochures and various other mediums that need text. I also design some of the imagery on our website, in our brochures, for ads and a myriad of other places. My hope is that the things I create impact the Parker community in a positive way and encourage people to get involved with the arts, whether they’re on stage or simply enjoying the show.”

What do you most enjoy about working for the Town of Parker?
“I enjoy working with great people in a creative environment that supports and cultivates the arts!”

What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
“I’m Spiderman. *cough* I mean… I’m a big fan of Spiderman and the Marvel Superhero Universe in general.”

What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
“Play video games! Right now, Fortnite is pretty big, but I also enjoy Destiny 2 and plenty of others.”

What’s one thing that you feel sets Parker apart from other communities?
“The PACE Center and Parker Arts in general. There aren’t a lot of communities that make the arts a priority like Parker does, and the arts are so important for enriching the community and sharing creative ideas.”

What is the most interesting place you’ve ever visited?
“It feels strange to be fortunate enough to have seen so many amazing places that this question is now extremely difficult for me to answer. If I have to choose, I suppose I will go with the Cinque Terre in Italy. Italy in general is so beautiful, and the Cinque Terre are just their own unique pocket of it. Grabbing a take away pizza and heading down the steps to the coast to watch the sun sink into the water with my wife on our honeymoon is one of the best things I’ve ever been able to experience.”

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
“Oxygen.”

If you could do another job for the Town of Parker for just one day, what would it be?
“Police Officer. It’s a noble profession, and I have a lot of respect for anyone willing to put their life on the line to protect the people around them.”

What’s one thing about working for the Town of Parker that you didn’t expect?
“Meeting so many people that I would consider to be lifelong friends.”

What accomplishment are you most proud of since you started working for the Town of Parker?
“I think it comes back to those relationships I’ve made with people here. I’ve grown a lot here with the Town, and I’ve gotten to do that with a lot of fantastic people.”

What is the strangest thing that you have experienced while working for the Town of Parker?
“My brothers, Corey and Trey (who work for the Parks and Recreation Department and Parker Arts, respectively).”

Thank you, Jameson, for all you do for the Town of Parker!
