Parker residents and visitors will soon notice the addition of a traffic signal at the intersection of Chambers Road and Grasslands Drive, located near the Town’s northwest boundary.
Parker Town Council approved the award for this signalized intersection with contractor TAT Construction on Jan. 6.
The Town’s Engineering and Public Works Department completed a traffic signal warrant analysis of this intersection in 2019 based upon the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Road managers nationwide use the standards included in the MUTCD to help determine the levels traffic volumes need to reach before signals are installed. The results of the Town’s study showed that this intersection now meets these minimum standards.
Construction is anticipated to be underway this spring. Due a manufacturing lead time of approximately five months for the mast arm signal poles, the traffic signal is planned to be operational by late summer.
