Town of Parker COVID-19 Update
The Town of Parker would like to reassure our community that we are continuing to closely monitor Coronavirus (COVID-19) and taking steps to keep our community and staff safe. The Town has plans, partnerships and resources in place to support our community and we are working closely with the Tri-County Health Department and the CDC. Although no COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Parker at this time, we are following Tri-County’s recommendations, including encouraging our community to take preventative actions, such as washing hands, staying home when sick, avoiding contact with people who are sick, coughing or sneezing into your sleeve, etc. Additional information from Tri-County Health about the coronavirus can be found at http://tchd.org/818/Coronavirus. In addition to the preventative actions mentioned above, we are working to ensure that our facilities remain safe and clean. Our high-traffic facilities are also taking precautions to curb the spread of any potential pathogens, as outlined below.
Parker Arts
The health and safety of our patrons is our highest priority and we have put the following precautions in place at our Parker Arts facilities.
Prevention measures:
- Increased the frequency and rigor of cleaning and sanitization in our public venues, including wiping down high-touch areas periodically throughout the day.
- Provided multiple sanitation stations with anti-bacterial wipes.
- Posted signs reminding all patrons and staff to wash their hands.
- Added tissue boxes in public areas and are reminding people to cover their mouth when they cough or sneeze.
- Requested all employees who are to sick stay home.
With respect to potential show cancellations, Parker Arts is following the guidance of the Tri-County Health Department, our public health agency, and will rely on their recommendations and expertise to inform our decisions. At this time, Tri-County has not posted any advisories mandating closure. Parker Arts is continuing with our regularly-scheduled events until we are instructed otherwise.
Parker Parks and Recreation:
The Parker Parks and Recreation Department is committed to the health and safety of our participants, spectators, patrons and employees and we are closely monitoring and adhering to recommendations from the Tri-County Health Department regarding Coronavirus. Currently, the Tri-County Health Department has not mandated any facility closures, therefore, all recreation facilities and parks are open and programs are occurring as regularly scheduled.
Prevention measures:
- Increased frequency of cleaning and sanitization of frequently touched surfaces such as counters, door handles/knobs, hand rails, team bench areas, bleachers, drinking fountains, fitness equipment, and areas such as locker rooms, classrooms, gymnasium, fitness studios, child care, restrooms, playgrounds and pool area.
- Increased number of hand sanitizing stations throughout facilities.
- Placed additional tissue boxes throughout facilities to encourage usage after sneezing/coughing.
- Daily disinfection of sports equipment.
- Posted signage reminding all patrons to wash hands, clean equipment before and after fitness equipment use, cover their mouth when coughing and sneezing.
- Encouraging employees and patrons to stay home if they are not feeling well and avoid contact with those not feeling well.
- Providing social media tips and updates on coronavirus prevention.
Parker Police Department
To ensure maximum protection for our first responders, the Parker Police Department has limited access to secure areas of their facility and all classes, activities and events that were being hosted at the facility will be paused until further notice. The facility lobby will remain open to the public and there will be no delay or disruption to calls for service. The goal of the Police Department is to maintain the level of service Parker residents expect as we work through the impact of COVID-19 and help protect our first responders from any unnecessary exposure to potential cases of the virus.
The Town of Parker will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and take action as advised by Tri-County Health. Updates will be posted on the Town’s social media channels and website, www.ParkerOnline.org/Coronavirus.
