Following the conclusion of a lengthy and in-depth recruitment process, the Parker Town Council is pleased to announce that Randy Young has accepted the position of Town Administrator. Council approved an employment contract with Young on Monday, May 17. Young will begin his employment with the Town on June 21, 2010.

“The Town interviewed a large number of highly qualified applicants for this position,” said Mayor Casiano. “Randy stood out in our process – he has the experience, background and professional tools needed to excel in this position and he is a great fit for our organization.”

Young comes to the Town with a wide variety of experience. Since 2002, he has served as the City Manager for the City of Wheat Ridge, prior to which he was the City Manager for Sheridan and Assistant to the City Administrator in Fort Lupton. Young also brings 21 years of private sector experience in a management capacity for Safeway Stores, Inc.

“It is truly a privilege to have been selected to be Parker’s new Town Administrator,” said Young. “I look forward to becoming an integral part of the fabric of the Parker community and partnering with the Town Council, staff and citizens to maintain the Town’s vision of being a full-service community with a hometown feel.”

Young holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver and a Masters in Public Administration from the Graduate School of Public Affairs, University of Colorado at Denver.

The Town Administrator Search Committee conducted a comprehensive recruitment process to fill this vital position, resulting in 182 applicants. Of this number, 44 met the minimum qualifications and were currently serving as either a Town Administrator or Deputy Town Administrator. Applicants went through phone interviews and an extensive in-person interview process, which included Town Council and staff panels, as well as professional and peer groups. The community was also invited to attend a facilitated public forum to meet the candidates and hear about their backgrounds and experience.
