[ARCHIVED] Town Noise Ordinance Update

Idyllwilde Neighborhood

The Town of Parker has initiated a project to update its existing Noise Ordinance (Chapter 6.03 – Noise Regulations of the Municipal Code). The Town has retained an expert acoustical/sound consulting firm, Censeo AV+Acoustics, to assist with the update to the Noise Ordinance.

Starting Oct. 19, Censeo will be placing sound monitoring equipment at eight locations throughout Parker to monitor sound and noise over the next seven days. The monitoring locations will be at Town-owned buildings, parks and open space throughout the community. The purpose of the monitoring activity is to understand and document the baseline sound conditions in Parker in order to support the development of updated standards in the Noise Ordinance. The monitoring equipment looks like a small suitcase with an antenna and microphone projecting from the case as shown below:

If you see this monitoring equipment on a Town-owned building, park or open space, please remember that it is for the Town’s project to update the existing Noise Ordinance. Please do not approach or touch the equipment, because this may cause damage to the equipment or impede the sound-monitoring activities.

Thank you and please feel free to contact the Community Development Department at .303.841.2332 if you have questions or would like additional information.
