Parker residents may notice some new construction activity on the southwest corner of the Parker Road and Mainstreet intersection. The Town's Engineering and Public Works Department is in the process of performing some traffic flow improvements to this key intersection.
The current configuration at this intersection was constructed in the 1980s. Due to continued growth in the area, it has resulted in increased traffic flows causing congestion during peak travel times. In addition, new development and redevelopment is anticipated, including a new Chase Bank branch on the site of a former gasoline service station.
Circulation improvements are warranted at this busy corner, and they will include the addition of an eastbound Mainstreet right-hand turn lane to southbound Parker Road and the widening of southbound Parker Road to the access into the Safeway/Hobby Lobby shopping center area.
The anticipated completion date for this project will be fall 2021. Drivers may experience some minor traffic impacts during construction.
