Although Parker experienced its first snowfall a little later than usual, residents can expect that the snow is going to keep on coming! Now that snow season is officially here, please keep in mind Parker’s snow removal policies.
The Town prioritizes snow removal by dividing our over 500 lane miles of road into three categories: arterials (priority one), collector streets (priority two) and local roads (priority three). Arterials are all major roadways that carry the highest volume of traffic. Collector streets provide access to major roadways as well as into neighborhoods and are plowed after all arterial roads are cleared. Local roads provide traffic flow within subdivisions and are only cleared if they receive 10 or more inches of snow or if major drifting has occurred.
When local roads are cleared the plowing can sometimes cause inconveniences for residents. For example, due to the speed snow plows must go, they may inadvertently throw snow far enough to cover sidewalks. This extra work can be frustrating, but it’s still important for residents to clear a path from their driveway to the street. Make this easier by shoveling the snow from your driveway into your yard, as any snow placed in the street might be pushed back into your driveway by a passing plow.
Also, don't forget to lend a hand to your neighbors who may need some assistance with shoveling their sidewalks or driveways. Just helping with a neighbor’s shoveling will put a smile on anyone’s face! This is a great way to spread some neighborhood friendliness during the holiday season.
The Town appreciates your assistance and understanding. If you have questions about the status of a particular street or want to report hazardous street conditions, please email publicworks@parkeronline.org or call 303.840.9546.
