Parker area residents are invited to attend the Police Department’s free spring citizen academy program, which gives participants first-hand information about how Parker’s Police Department operates. Classes will focus on traffic enforcement, accident reconstruction, DUI (driving under the influence) enforcement, investigations, sex offender registrations, evidence collection/fingerprinting, SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics), Taser, Krav Maga (a self defense system), drugs, background investigations, bicycle patrol, police training program, municipal court, victim advocates and the terrorism liaison program.
The classroom work, combined with field trips and tours, begins Thursday, March 24 and requires a commitment of one night a week from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for 10 weeks. All classes will be held on Thursday nights, with one optional Saturday class at the shooting range.
