[ARCHIVED] Douglas County Bayou Gulch Wildfire

The Bayou Gulch Wildfire is in Franktown, near the Elbert County line in the Burning Tree area. It is currently 60 acres with no containment as of yet. One helicopter is onscene dumping water. No structures lost.

Media is being directed to the staging area at Ponderosa High School, also on Bayou Gulch Road near Highway 83.

Evacuations: The Douglas County Fairgrounds have been set up as an evacuation point for the 8,400 people evacuated. This is also the area where pets (both large and small) should go. Animal Evacuation personnel have been activated. Elbert County is also on standby to assist with animal evacuation if needed. The evacuation area is between Highway 86 and Bayou Gulch Road, and Highway 83 and Hilltop Road.
