[ARCHIVED] Enjoy Parker's Parks and Trails!

The Town is proud of its extensive trail system and encourages everyone to get out and enjoy this fabulous recreational amenity. Below are some tips on keeping our trails safe for all users to enjoy.

General Trail Etiquette
Please be aware of other trail users and treat them in a courteous manner. All users should stay on designated trails. Stay to the right side of the trail whenever possible so that faster traffic can pass on the left. Help keep the trails clean by using trash cans where available or carrying litter with you to dispose of it properly. Respect private property and posted route detours or closures. All dogs must be kept on a leash, please carry a bag and clean up after your pet. Lastly, observe all trail rules, markings and signs.

Bicycling
Bicyclists are required to obey the same rules of the road as other vehicle operators. Cyclists must observe a15 mph speed limit while riding on the trails. Ride in control, watch your speed and stay to the right when practical. Use a bell or whistle, or call out when passing others, preferably on the left. Always anticipate other trail users around corners, especially children, strollers and dogs. Cyclists should always yield to pedestrians and equestrians. Slow down when approaching other trail users or intersections and do not block the trail - pull off when stopping. Be aware of potential safety issues such as loose gravel, glass, mud or water on the trail and ride appropriately. For your own safety, always wear a helmet when bicycling.

No Motorized Vehicles are Allowed
Motorized vehicles including three- wheelers, snow-mobiles, scooters and motorcycles are not allowed on the trails. ADA devices are allowed. Occasionally, you may see Town vehicles on the trails for maintenance or security purposes.

Become a Trail Ranger
Volunteer to become a Trail Ranger and assist the Town's trails maintenance crew by patrolling the Town's trails. Rangers report trail and park safety issues, as well as maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel. For more information contact Ben Shipley at bshipley@parkeronline.org or 303.840.9546.
