Registration for a variety of Parker Recreation’s winter youth sports leagues will open online at www.ParkerRec.com at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
The Sports Department is seeking volunteer coaches for a variety of upcoming winter sports leagues, including Girls’ Only, Boys’ Only and Kinder Basketball leagues; and Boys’ and Girls’ Indoor Soccer leagues. To sign up as a coach, contact the Sports Office at 303.805.6300.
Girls’ Only basketball introduces girls to this sport with an emphasis on fun and participation. Participants will work on shooting, dribbling, passing and teamwork. Grade levels offered are 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6.
A Boys’ Only basketball program will also be offered this winter. Grade levels offered are 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8.
Both Boys’ and Girls’ leagues consist of one practice and one game each week with an emphasis on fun and participation. Games will be held Friday evenings or Saturdays. The season will begin the week of Jan. 4.
Parker Recreation’s Kinder programs are designed to instill a love of sport into our youngest players, 4 and 5 year olds. Leagues focus on building skills, learning to work as a team and having fun! Kinder programs meet once per week, combining practice with game scenarios. The Winter Kinder Basketball session will begin Jan. 9.
Even when the weather doesn’t agree with outdoor sports, you are able to lace up your cleats and play soccer in the Boys’ or Girls’ Indoor Soccer league for grades 5 to 8. This league is played indoors on the turf at the Fieldhouse and is perfect to get into shape for the upcoming spring soccer season! Registration for soccer opens online on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Registration for Kinder and Youth sports is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. Register online beginning at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10 to have the best selection of teams.
