Due to the extremely dry, hot and windy conditions across Colorado, the Parker Town Council made the decision today to cancel the fireworks portion of the Town’s Let Freedom Sing! 4th of July Event. “There are fires burning across Colorado and the safety of our citizens is our top priority,” said Mayor David Casiano. “We value this community, our citizens and their homes and have concluded that continuing with our fireworks show is simply not worth the risk.”
In addition, the Parker Police Department will be taking a zero-tolerance approach to violations of the fire ban currently in place. For more information on this policy and the associated fines, please visit www.parkerpolice.org.
Although the professional fireworks show has been canceled, the rest of the Let Freedom Sing! event will go on as planned on Wednesday, July 4 at Salisbury Park, 11920 Motsenbocker Rd., from 6 to 10 p.m. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and set up for an evening of family entertainment. Kids and parents alike will love the Kids’ Zone, brought to you by Celebrity Lanes! Bounce houses, a bubble tower, games, balloon twisting and the new wacky world inflatable are sure to keep you busy. Face painting and temporary tattoos will also be available for a small fee. The older kids and adults who are young at heart can try the BIG slide or check out their skills on the climbing wall and the obstacle course!
What’s a celebration without great food and live music? Indulge in fantastic local fare including Jamba Juice, Chick-Fil-A, Old Time Kettle Korn, Swirls, Snow Business Shaved Ice, Island Noodles, burgers, hot dogs, funnel cakes, tacos, burritos and more!
Sit back and enjoy the sounds of local rock and pop band Under the Radar at 6 p.m., Rocky Mountain Brassworks 35-piece brass band at 7 p.m. and Buckstein’s country favorites from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Many thanks to our Main Stage Sponsor, Rocky Vista University, for their contribution in helping the Town bring you fantastic live music!
Limited parking and handicap accessible parking will be available at Salisbury Park for $5, cash only. General event admission is free. No alcohol, tents, grills or canopies will be permitted. Event-goers are welcome to bring coolers and picnic items. For more event information, parking, maps and event programs, please visit www.parkeronline.org/letfreedomsing or call 303.841.0353.
