With large-scale gatherings temporarily suspended due to COVID-19 and health restrictions, we aren’t able to bring the community our traditional season of events, including the Mayor’s Holiday Lighting and the Parker Christmas Carriage Parade. However, Town staff has been creatively working to find other ways for our community stay engaged and show their hometown spirit! We are excited to announce a new and creative season of 2020 activities.
Unfortunately, due to a state-wide fire ban, we are unable to provide our community with the originally scheduled Food Trucks and Fireworks drive-in event for Sunday, Sept. 13. As the main draw of this event was a fireworks show with limited additional activities (food trucks and limited in car entertainment), an event without a fireworks show isn’t possible.
Due to COVID-19, DRCOG and the Way to Go team made the hard decision to cancel the 2020 Bike to Work Day festivities. But that doesn't mean the fun is canceled! The Town of Parker is partnering up with DRCOG and the Way to Go Team and challenging you to a Bike to Wherever... week! Whether you're headed to the workplace, a workout or the store, pledge to ride your bike during the week of Sept. 21. Then, on Sept. 22, make sure to ride by the Town of Parker’s “Ride-by Station” on the Cherry Creek bike path. Elevation Cycle bike technicians will also be onsite should cyclists need assistance.
The first 300 cyclists will receive a goodie bag provided by the Town of Parker and our very generous sponsors, Rocky Vista University, Vitalant and CareNow! These goodie bags will be filled with grab and go nutrition, a customized Parker face gaiter and other goodies Visit www.ParkerOnline.org/BikeParkerDay for more information
The community is invited to celebrate with the Town of Parker by decorating your front porches, yards, patios or balconies for Halloween (Oct. 22 through Oct. 31) and for the holidays (Dec. 3 through Dec. 20)! Unleash your creativity, bring a smile to your friends and neighbors, and WIN PRIZES! The Town of Parker will produce a virtual map with the locations of all our registered Porches, so you can plan a walk or drive around your neighborhood and the community to see and share in the celebration. More information coming soon!
Thanksgiving Weekend: Friday, Nov. 27 through Sunday, Nov. 29
Usher in the holidays on Thanksgiving weekend in downtown Parker while taking in the sights and sounds of the holidays from O’Brien Park to Discovery Park! As you walk between the parks, you’ll be able to grab a selfie or a family picture by the Town tree, enjoy the holiday lights, listen to holiday music and enjoy other holiday accents! A variety of festive activities will take place throughout the weekend, including ice sculptures up-lit with holiday colors along Mainstreet in the evenings, and walk-around characters like Scrooge, Frosty the Snowman, Santa’s elves, a toy soldier and maybe even Rudolph strolling throughout downtown during the days. After a stroll and some shopping, visit one of the many downtown Parker restaurants, tasty treat shops or grab something from one of our food trucks onsite for the festivities. More information coming soon!
We want to take this time to say thank you to a very special group - our amazing sponsors. During a regular event season, sponsors play a large part in helping us bring events to our community. 2020 events would absolutely not have been possible without these partners and friends! This dedicated group rolled with all the changes and stayed committed to our community. The Town of Parker would like to thank: Camp Bow Wow, Care Now, Ent Credit Union, Jet’s Pizza, Mile High Kona Ice, Parker Party America, the Outdoor Channel, Patricia J. Stone, PC, Vitalant, WeChef Kitchen and Xfinity.
