The Art in Public Places Committee, formed in 2010, consists of community members interested in public art who provide recommendations to Town Council on public art pieces and projects.
Members apply through an application process and are interviewed by staff, but are not formally appointed. The Town Council liaison to the Cultural and Scientific Commission is also invited to Art in Public Places Committee meetings.
The “Freedom through Safety” sculpture selection for the new Parker Police Station was this committee’s first project. The Art in Public Places Committee is currently creating an inventory of public art pieces and enhancing educational efforts about Parker artwork.
