Citizen Police Academy Program
About the Citizen Police Academy Program
Parker area residents are invited to attend the Police Department’s 10-week Citizen Police Academy program. This program gives participants first-hand information about how the Police Department operates. Classes will focus on criminal law, the drug task force, evidence, dispatch, traffic laws, accident reconstruction, DUI laws, Taser demonstrations, youth education programs and many other topics. In addition to the weekly classes, there is an optional trip to the law enforcement firearms training facility where participants will have the opportunity to fire weapons used by the police officers. All attendees will also be invited to participate in a graduation at the end of the program.

The classroom work, combined with field trips and tours, requires a commitment of one night a week from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for 10 weeks. All classes are held on Tuesday nights, with the optional Saturday class at the shooting range.

Participation is limited to 30 people ages 18 and older.
