Bike Lane Master Plan

The development of a Bike Lane Plan (PDF) was a strategy of the Open Space Trails and Greenways Master Plan. In 2005, the Town and its citizens developed the Town of Parker Bike Lane Plan and the Town Council adopted it in July 2005.

The purpose of the Bike Lane Plan (PDF) is to:

  • Allow residents the option to use a bicycle as a viable transportation option
  • Provide residents opportunities to live an active lifestyle
  • Enhance the linkages between open space, trails and the built environment
  • Ensure that bike lane linkages are appropriate, seamless and safe

Goals & Strategies

The goals and strategies stated in the plan are intended to be the guiding framework in developing bike lanes in our community. Included in the Plan are also Short Term Action Items that were developed to take advantage of immediate opportunities.

Bike Lane Connections

The plan sets forth a map of missing bike lane connections that shows where future bike lanes would be appropriate and sets up a tiered system for priorities. Keep in mind that many of these roads are either already built or already designed, and this plan will take many years to come to fruition.

Also included are design considerations for the development of bike lanes to assure that bike lanes are safe and understandable to use.
