Make your plans for the month ahead with our list of five things to know for February.

Love 'em or Leave 'em Valentine's Day 5K/10K on Feb. 9:
Will you embrace the holiday full of heart or run from Cupid? Either way, the Love 'em or Leave 'em Valentine's Day 5K/10K is the signature run/walk of the Parker Parks and Recreation Run Series and is a fun and festive workout!

The professionally timed event will be held at Bar CCC Park on Saturday, Feb. 9. The overall male/female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in different age divisions, will be awarded. All registered participants are also invited to enjoy a delicious post-race pancake breakfast.

Register and learn more on the race webpage.

State of the Town event Feb. 27:
The Rotary Club of Parker will host the 2019 Parker State of the Town Business Lunch on Feb. 27 at the Vehicle Vault.

This event is a great opportunity to make contacts with local business people, support your community and visit with Mayor Mike Waid and Town Councilmembers and officials. A special feature will be the presentation of the Parker Impact Award, which recognizes a person who has made a valuable contribution to the Parker community. The Vehicle Vault's museum of vintage and classic cars will be open during the event.

This year's keynote speaker will be Kathy Sabine, Chief Meteorologist for 9News, followed by Town Administrator Michelle Kivela, who will introduce Mayor Waid to present a recap of the year and the annual State of the Town video.

Homeowner Building and Sales Tax educational programs begin new year:
The Community Development Department's Building Division and Finance Department’s Sales Tax Division host educational meetings for residents and business owners throughout the year.

These kick off with the first Homeowner Building Class on Feb. 7. Free Homeowner Building Classes give residents a chance to ask all kinds of building-related questions. Building Division staff will take you through the permit process, explain fees and discuss required inspections.

The first Sales Tax Taxpayer Seminar is scheduled for Feb. 8. At these free meetings you can learn, or refresh your memory, about the ins-and-outs of sales tax rules and regulations in Parker.

Additional dates for these programs can be found on the Town calendar.

Show your love for the arts:
February will be a great month to love the arts as Parker Arts has a full calendar of shows, activities and presentations.

Events include Friday Night Jazz: Ella & the Great Ladies of Song on Feb. 8, Comedy & Cocktails Feb. 9, Parker Symphony Orchestra: Passion Feb. 15, Sweatshop Dance Company's annual concert Feb. 16,  Wonderbound: Cupid's Playground with the Colorado Symphony Feb. 23 and 24, and Ballerina by Degas presented by Ballet Ariel Feb. 28.

A pair of art galleries are also on display through February — Black and White (With a Little Color) at the PACE Center Art Gallery and All You Need is Love at The Schoolhouse Art Gallery.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s engaging ZOOMobile team will also be at the PACE Center Feb. 16 for a Family Discovery Series event.

Monthly public meetings:
Parker Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 and Tuesday, Feb. 19 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 20120 E. Mainstreet. The Council will hold study sessions at 5:30 p.m. Mondays Feb. 11 and 25 in the Pikes Peak Community Room at Town Hall.
