Make your plans for the month ahead with our list of five things to know for October.

Parker named the best place to raise a family in Colorado:
The Town of Parker took the top spot on WalletHub’s Best Places to Raise a Family in Colorado list for 2019. En route to the No. 1 ranking, Parker scored the highest overall marks in the state across 21 family-friendliness metrics in the categories of Family Life & Fun; Education Health & Safety; Affordability; and Socioeconomics.

Check out the Family Fun section of the Town’s visitor’s guide to see why Parker is “Your Kind of Place” for family activities all year long.

Get spooked at a Halloween event:
Gather with goblins and ghouls at one of Parker’s Halloween events. Parker Parks and Recreation’s popular Fieldhouse Fright Night returns Oct. 26 with a variety of family-friendly activities including Spook Skate, Rock’n Halloween at the Climbing Wall, a costume contest, arts and crafts and more!

Downtown is the place to be on Halloween thanks to the Cherry Creek Valley Rotary Club-sponsored Trick or Treat on Mainstreet. The festivities begin at O’Brien Park and continue down Mainstreet.

Several Town items on Coordinated Election ballot:
Ballots for the Nov. 5 Coordinated Election will be mailed to eligible voters beginning Oct. 11 and may be returned through 7 p.m. on Election Day. Parker’s 24-hour ballot drop box locations are at Parker Town Hall and the Parker Police Department. You may also return a ballot or vote at a voter service and polling center (also at Parker Town Hall) on select dates and times Oct. 28 to Nov. 5.

The Town has prepared factual summaries of the nine local measures (Questions 2–10) to be considered on the ballot for the Nov. 5, 2019, special election. There will be one additional ballot measure (Question 1), which will be included in the Analysis of the 2019 Ballot Proposals (a/k/a the “Blue Book”) published by Douglas County. In accordance with the Colorado Fair Campaign Practices Act, the factual summaries, which include arguments both for and against the proposals, do not contain a conclusion in favor or against any proposal and are not intended to urge a vote one way or another. View the summaries and other Town election information at www.ParkerOnline.org/2019Election.

Visit the Douglas County Elections website for complete voter registration and election information.

Sign up for fall break activities:
Both Parker Parks and Recreation and Parker Arts will be hosting special events, camps and activities during fall break. Visit the Parker Parks and Recreation programs page and Parker Arts education page to review options and register.
