20 21 Snow Season in Review

While a summer snow flurry is not unheard of along the Front Range, the latest snow season has all but wrapped up here in Parker. Reflect on the memorable season that was with the following statistics and notes.

• Parker recorded 80” of snowfall. This was well above the historical average of 56” per season.

• The 80” of snow would cover more than half of one of Parker’s trademark lampposts (each 11’6” or 138” in total)

• Public Works employees responded to 23 snow events

• The first snow event took place Sept. 8, 2020 with the last happening May 10, 2021

• The season’s most active month was March, which had five events including Winter Storm Xylia that dropped more than two feet of snow throughout our community

• In all, Parker’s fleet of 15 snowplows cleared 45,500 miles of roads

• Plows cleared 7,079 miles of roads in response to Winter Storm Xylia alone

• Plows treated roads with 2,300 tons of slicer (salt) and 89,500 gallons of liquid magnesium chloride
