The Town of Parker is pleased to announce that the highly-anticipated widening of Chambers Road will begin in March. This important project, which is necessary to support increased traffic capacity, is being jointly funded by the Town of Parker, Douglas County and the Douglas County School District.
“This project is an important piece of our roadway network plan,” said Mayor Mike Waid. “We’re pleased to be able to work in partnership with Douglas County and the Douglas County School District to widen Chambers Road to support future growth in this area.”
The current two-lane section of Chambers Road between Hess Road and Mainstreet, which opened in 2009, will be widened to a four-lane arterial roadway. Also included in this project is a new roadway bridge over Newlin Gulch, a pedestrian bridge over Chambers Road near Gold Rush Elementary School, upgrades to the existing traffic signals within the project limits and the installation of a new traffic signal at the Heirloom Parkway intersection. Construction is anticipated to be completed in late fall 2016, with media landscaping to follow in 2017 (pending funding allocation).
Normal construction hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays (if necessary). No construction will take place on Sundays. During the project, two-way traffic will be maintained, with temporary closures of a short duration taking place for specific tasks, such as the installation of the pedestrian bridge.
