John D. Fussa has substantial experience in community development, economic development, land use/planning and redevelopment and joined the Town of Parker as Director in August, 2013. The Community Development Department is responsible for most aspects of Parker’s physical growth and development including building services, development review and long-range planning. Mr. Fussa’s responsibilities currently include supervision of the Building, Comprehensive Planning and Development Review Divisions of Town government.
Mr. Fussa holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters of City and Regional Planning Degree from Rutgers University. Prior to joining the Town, Mr. Fussa served as the City Planner/Director of Community Development at the City of Bayonne, N.J. from 2002 to 2013 and Project Manager/Senior Planner for the consulting firm of Heyer, Gruel and Associates in New Brunswick, N.J. from 1997 to 2002. Mr. Fussa’s other prior work experience includes positions at the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority MPO in Newark, N.J.; Planning Department in Woodbridge Township, N.J. and Drew University in Madison, N.J.
Mr. Fussa and his Community Development team have earned multiple awards for their work on behalf of the Town of Parker including the 2014 Transportation Master Plan, 2015 Mainstreet Master Plan, 2017 EastMain Redevelopment Project and 2019 Parks, 2018 Discovery/Douglas County Library project and the 2019 Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan.
He is currently a member of the American Planning Association, Colorado Municipal League, International City Management Association and Urban Land Institute.
